The Rajasthan Diaries Part 1: Jodhpur

It's going to be a really long post since it was a 10 day trip.

so i divided it into 3 parts based on the locations.

We were in the final semester of Engineering and Rajasthan was finalized for the college IV.

Initially, i was reluctant, as i thought it will be the most boring trip and won't be worth 10k at all.

I am glad that i changed my mind later.

Jan 13 2016

We boarded the suryanagari express in the afternoon from bandra terminus.

its been my favorite train whenever i had to travel to vadodara. The train is pretty fast and have very few stops.

it was a long journey, 17 hours to be precise.

we all were somewhat together.

few years back the railways decided to reserve the lower seats for the senior citizens.

so it was us and 2 senior citizens.

there was a woman in her 60's on one seat and an uncle in his 60's.

it was somewhat awkward in the start but we simply didn't care.

we could see the look on their faces, the uncle seemed to be annoyed but the aunty seemed nice, she talked with us, and she seemed to be happy with our company.

we then slept for a while. the train was supposed to reach early in the morning.

it was about midnight when strain stopped and someone waked me up.

It was Abu Road, and a lot of people got down.

we too got down and had rabdi (My fav Desert)

few hours later we reached the destination (Jodhpur).

The sky was still dark..

It was the time for the sunrise...

the black sky slowly started to change its color...

We boarded the the reserved buses and reached the hotel.

The hotel seemed pretty amazing, it was grass all around and there was swimming pool too, this was something that i wasn't expecting.

i always assumed that Rajasthan lacks water, but that wasn't true for the entire state.

soon we checked into our rooms and freshened up.

the rooms were amazing too.

just one thing weird about these rooms was that they had this rectangular transparent glass between the room and the bathroom.

i couldn't understand the purpose.

fortunately there was a curtain there.

There aren't a lot of places to visit in jodhpur but there are enough for 1 day tour.

we visited 2 main attractions at Jodhpur.

1) Umaid Bhawan Palace

2) Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort

I guess apart from being a palace, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is a royal hotel too.

the palace was grand and they had this gallery of such cool cars from the past.

The Grand Palace

we went to Mehrangarh fort right after visiting this amazing palace.

These two places are must visit if you are in jodhpur.

The Mehrangarh fort is massive.

There was a well around here which featured in the Batman movie, the scene where Bruce wayne was kept captive in the well and he had to get out of there anyhow to save the Gotham city.

after being on the top of the fort i got to know that this city is called the blue city.

The view of the city for the fort was simply awesome and it was something that i never expected in India.

It was not some kind of massive infra or something like that, but the view of entire city painted in blue.

It was already night and we had the amazing dinner and then went back to our rooms.

The thing about the college groups is that even though you have 2 rooms, you would all still crash into the single room and make one entirely overcrowded and the other one a ghost-house.

Short of breathing space, me and Aditya went outside at 12 to get some fresh air.

we started talking about some stupid stuffs and don't know how we ended up discussion some serious and scientific stuffs at 2.

at this time we were the only ones up in that massive hotel.

the guard saw us and came to us and took our names and room number.

that was kind of weird but we didn't care.

we went back to our rooms there was no space to sleep.

somehow we made some space on the floor, in front of the bed.

there's this feeling of being semiconscious when we are deep sleep but the noise around us make us semi awake but we don't care to get up.

this was what i felt the next day, i was asleep, everyone around me was talking loudly but it didn't bother my sleep util it felt like an explode.

one of my Friendliterally jumped from the bed and his feets landed on my face.

it felt to me like a massive explosion.

This was the time i thought that my face broke.

i immediately got up checked if my face was intact or not.

i could not feel half of the face, just imagine a 60kg as*hole landing on your face from 4 feet height.

i could see few drops of blood on my palm.

i abused him and then went back to sleep.

Couple of hours later i got up, and further abused him.

half of my face was in pain and had few scratches.

from this point onward all my closeups were ruined.

it been almost 3 years today but i can still recollect that moment precisely.

i let it go, but karma doesn't spare anyone.

hold on for part 3 of this trip to know how............

Summary

The State of kings serves an entirely different experience from the regular tourist destinations.

The Architecture and the forts have a different story to tell about how everything was so different few centuries back.

The massive infrastructures built in around 15th century still stands tall and are way stronger than what are made in 21st century.
