16kms from Lonavala and 9 from Malavli, this fort is next to Lohagad, the fort is massive and sometimes it’s very difficult to find paths during monsoon.
The road to the fort is quite steep and so is the trek, but it is not that difficult.
Throughout the journey, you’ll come across several waterfalls.
There are two routes to the fort, one is closer to Mumbai and the other is to Pune.
While coming from Pune, the path is very pleasant, with beautiful sceneries, a view of Pawna lake and Lohagad fort.
Saturday was a super hectic day and there was hardly any energy left to get up in the early morning for the trek. After just 4 hours of sleep, we somehow managed to get up and leave for the trek.
Since we had friends coming over from Mumbai we couldn’t cancel the trek and had to be on time.
We left at 7 for the trek, it was about 90mins drive initially.
The road at Kamshet was no road at all, it was literally just potholes, no one could spot a road over there.
We were on the path suggested by google maps and sometimes it goes super crazy, especially when you’re outside Mumbai, you drive for 30mins,40mins, 50mins just to see that it is still showing 51mins left.
We asked a shopkeeper in between who suggested us a different path, and it landed us to an isolated area where we could hardly spot any vehicle.
We stopped to enquire about the route to a person who was playing with his cute little daughter near a farmhouse. He suggested us the actual root.
Going through the Pawna lake again we were on the correct way. The view of Pawna lake was super amazing so the extra distance didn’t turn down the mood.
In between, we stopped at an amazing waterfall and clicked a lot of pictures and videos.

The amazing view and waterfall were worth sharing so I have uploaded the video on the following link on Youtube.
Pawna lake is quite famous for camping, I too came here for camping once and that was an unexpected experience, but that’s for a different post.
So, we continued for the fort and came across a short but amazing path.

Soon we reached Lohagad fort and visapur was just a few hundred meters ahead, we started the trek for visapur, the initial path was muddy, and then rocky along with a waterfall. The trek was through the forest, it was a steep trek but luckily a short one.
This was the time when we realized that there are two different entry points for the fort. Soon we reached at the top, it was all foggy, there were too many people around as it was the weekend during the monsoon. There was fog all around we could hardly see anything beyond 10 meters, we didn’t know that the fort was so huge till the fog cleared. We roamed around for about a couple of hours and all and all of a sudden, we realized that we were isolated. We could not find anyone or the path we were looking for, we were lost. We searched for a path for a couple of hours and found the exit only to realize that it was not the one through which we came. Visapur fort has 2 entry/exit points, 1 is near Lohagad Fort, which comes when you are coming from Pune/Pawna lakeside, the other one is the one closer to Mumbai, near malavli station. We further walked for an additional hour to find the correct exit, it was about 4:30 pm, we were glad that we didn’t get stuck on the fort. While coming down we had Maggie at a small restaurant and then headed back to Hinjewadi(Pune)
